What we do
Engineering with the build in mind.
Civil engineering at Fort is not a line item we hand to an outside firm and hope it fits. Our Professional Engineer (Florida #51436) sits on the same team as the designers and the field crews, so the site plan, the drainage, and the structure are reconciled against how the project will actually be built.
That matters most in Southwest Florida, where flood elevation, stormwater, and a high water table drive the entire site. Getting the civil right early is what keeps a project moving through Collier and Lee County review instead of bouncing back for revisions.
Scope
What we handle.
Site civil and drainage design
Grading, stormwater management, and drainage tuned to the flat terrain and high water table of Southwest Florida.
Roads, parking, and paving
Access, circulation, parking layouts, and paving sections for commercial, mixed-use, and residential sites.
Seawalls, docks, and waterfront civil
Coastal and waterfront civil for canal-front and Gulf-access properties, detailed for the marine environment.
Permitting and agency coordination
County, city, water management district, and utility submittals, handled from day one of design so review cycles do not stall the build.
The in-house difference
One engineer, on the same team.
When the engineer who stamps the drawings works down the hall from the people building the project, problems get solved in a conversation, not a 30-day cycle of requests for information between separate firms. Most contractors calling themselves Design-Build still sub out civil engineering. We keep it in-house.
FEMA flood zones
AE and VE zone analysis, finished-floor and flood-vent design for building near the coast.
Stormwater and water management
Drainage and stormwater permitting through the South Florida Water Management District.
High water table
Foundation, fill, and drainage strategies for the shallow water table and sandy soils of the region.
Coastal and waterfront
Seawall, dock, and shoreline civil engineered to hold up to salt, surge, and tide.

Common questions
Frequently asked.
Is your engineer actually on staff?
Yes. P.E. #51436 is in-house, not subcontracted. It is the single biggest reason our projects move faster through permitting and avoid cycles of requests for information between separate firms.
Can I hire Fort for civil engineering only?
Yes. We take civil engineering on its own, alongside your own architect and contractor, or as part of a full Design-Build project. The scope is whatever works for you.
Do you handle the permitting, or just the drawings?
Both. We prepare the civil drawings and manage the agency submittals and review cycles, including county, city, the water management district, and utilities.
Which areas do you cover?
Collier and Lee counties, including Naples, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, and Marco Island.
