A camp runs on its dining hall. For Pine Springs Camp, Fort delivered a 10,564 square foot dining hall and kitchen with the full Design-Build scope: design, plans, permitting, site development, and construction, one team from end to end.
The challenge
Feeding a camp is an industrial problem
A camp dining hall serves an entire population at once, three times a day. Behind the gathering space sits a commercial kitchen built for volume, with the ventilation, utilities, and food-service code that scale demands, all delivered on a camp property where the site itself had to be developed for the building.
Our approach
One team, kitchen to gathering hall
Fort designed and permitted the building, developed the site, and built it, keeping the kitchen’s heavy mechanical program and the hall’s gathering space coordinated as one project. The camp worked with a single accountable party throughout.
The outcome
The building a camp day revolves around
Completed in 2018, the dining hall and kitchen serve Pine Springs Camp’s guests every season. Alongside the Ligonier Camp lodge, it forms a pair of camp projects that showcase Fort’s full Design-Build scope on community buildings.
