For the Ligonier Camp and Conference Center, Fort delivered a 22,055 square foot lodge and fellowship building end to end: design, plans, permitting, site development, and construction, all by one team. It is among the largest full-scope Design-Build projects in Fort’s portfolio.
The challenge
A big roof with a lot of jobs under it
A camp lodge is a gathering hall, lodging, and the support spaces that serve hundreds of guests at a time, set on a camp property rather than a developed commercial site. The building had to be big enough for fellowship at full capacity and durable enough for the year-round use a camp puts a building through, with the site developed to support it.
Our approach
The full arc, from raw site to lodge
Fort designed the building, drew and permitted the plans, developed the site, and built the lodge, the complete expression of the Design-Build model on a single project. The camp had one accountable party from the first sketch to the first retreat hosted under the new roof.
The outcome
A gathering place delivered whole
The lodge and fellowship building were completed in 2017 and serve the camp’s guests season after season. With the Pine Springs Camp dining hall delivered the following year, it established the camp and retreat work that remains a signature of Fort’s non-profit portfolio.
