For First Presbyterian in Irwin, Fort delivered a 10,828 square foot addition with its complete Design-Build scope: the design, the plans and permitting, the site development, and the construction. Completed in 2025, it is the most recent chapter in Fort’s long-running Pennsylvania work.
The challenge
Adding to a building a congregation never leaves
A church addition has to join an existing building both structurally and architecturally, respecting a structure a congregation has worshipped in for generations while meeting today’s code. And the church does not close for construction; the work proceeds around an active congregation’s calendar.
Our approach
Design through construction, one team
Fort designed the addition to belong to the building it joins, carried the plans through permitting, developed the site, and built it, with the congregation dealing with one accountable team from concept to completion.
The outcome
Room to grow, delivered in 2025
The addition was completed in 2025, giving the congregation nearly 11,000 square feet of new space. Nearly a decade after the Ligonier Valley YMCA expansion, it shows Fort’s Pennsylvania relationships still producing work, even as the firm’s center of gravity has moved to Southwest Florida.
